MORE ABOUT OUR Board of Directors

Lynette Braxton, MBA

As  an  Americorps Alum, Philanthropist, and Sales Executive with over 20 years in the consumer packaged goods industry  - Lynette has always had a passion for helping others.  Throughout her  career  she  has  always  found  time  to lend  a  helping  hand-  especIally  to  causes  fighting  diseases,  socioeconomic disparity,  homelessness,  and  poverty.     Lynette’s goal in launching Project My Brother’s Keeper is to help those in need by creating  shelter and a  sense of belonging for the forgotten homeless men, women, & children in our  urban communities.

Melanie Burns, MBA

A native Baltimorean, Melanie is a Division Director with the Social Security Administration.  Her compassion for doing the right thing and helping her fellow man is what led her to join the  Board  of  Project My Brother’s Keeper.  In 2002, she received her MBA from Loyola College in Maryland. Prior to joining the Federal Government, she spent five years working for T. Rowe Price in Maryland. While at T. Rowe Price, she had her first opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. This experience, allowed her to see how people can provide individual contributions to make a difference in society.  She hopes all of her experience will assist the organization’s journey to provide support and help for those in need.

Louis Alerte, MBA, MS, CLSSGB, PSM, SPOAC, PMP, FACHE

Louis  Alerte is the Global Intelligence Business Leader at Johnson & Johnson. In his role, he leads the opportunity identification framework to enable advanced intelligent automation (IA).  Louis  has  always  held  a strong  importance  for  education  that  has  been  an  essential  part  of  his  career advancement.  As  the  Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine  At St. George’s University,  he  also  has  a  passion  for  giving  back  and  serving  his  community.    Louis  feels that his  academic  accomplishments  would  be  meaningless if he could not give back to the community. Louis has been involved in community services for a great portion of his life, which has involved: mentoring incarcerated youth, teaching elementary school students as well as medical students & residents, and tutoring & mentoring college students in various academic subjects.

Rod Braxton

A native Baltimorean, Rod has always worked to help his family, friends, and overall community.   He is always willing to help someone in need - and has challenged his friends and family on many occasions to not just talk about it, but do something to help.  Whether it’s feeding families during  the holidays, organizing holiday toy drives, hosting  community  Easter egg  hunts and  fundraisers,   or coordinating mobile kids dental  wellness  drives - Rod is always initiating  efforts to give back and help those in need.

Joyce Mellerson

As a former Disabilities Claim Specialist, Joyce retired from the Social Security Administration  in 2014.  She remains active in her community - as the Youth and Young Adult Advisor and Sunday School Teacher at her church.  She was led to become involved in Project My Brother’s Keeper because she believes in the cause and importance of helping those in need.
